How can you run your new house in a manner that is more green and environmentally friendly? Actually, there are a number of different things you could do to make your new house more green. One of the biggest things you can do is use cleaning products that are nontoxic. There's a great book you can probably find at your public library called The Naturally Clean Home that provides a list of green cleaning products for the home. Instead of using an electric clothes dryer to dry your laundry you can dry your clothes on an old fashioned clothes line when the weather permits. If the weather's bad, use the dryer, but most of the time you'll be able to dry outdoors and reduce your use of electricity. If you haven't yet converted your light bulbs to fluorescents that's a great way to reduce electrical consumption and heat build up. Fluorescents use less than one fourth of the electricity of incadescents.
